Myles Trapp, age 96, of Valley City, ND, died Tuesday, May 10th at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 13th at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service Friday morning at the church. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery, Marion, ND.

Myles George Trapp, the son of John and Mary (Moser) Trapp, was born November 19, 1919 in Marion, ND. Myles graduated from High School and attended Valley City State University. In 1941, he took over his father’s hardware and implement business in Marion. On September 11, 1942 he enlisted in the US Army and served in the European Theater during World War II. He served in England, France, Belgium and Germany. After V-E Day, he was transferred to the Philippines. He earned the Good Conduct Medal and an E.T.O. ribbon with five battle stars. He was Honorably Discharged on November 23, 1945. On December 18, 1945 he married Lucille Boom at Grace United Methodist Church in Marion. Myles continued to operate Trapp Hardware and Implement until December, 1961 when a fire completely destroyed the business. In 1962, Myles opened an insurance office in Valley City, and in 1969 the family moved to Valley City. He was active in the Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) where he served as Past President, the VFW, American Legion, the Kiwanis and Epworth United Methodist Church. In 1983, Myles and Lucille moved to Mesa, AZ where he sold manufactured homes. He was an active member of the Sunrise Vista Clubhouse. They returned to Valley City in 2002. Myles entered the Sheyenne Care Center in 2007.

Myles is survived by his three sons, Daniel (Cheryl), Jamestown, ND, David (Patty) Valley City, ND and Michael (Cindy) West Fargo, ND; one daughter in law, Dawn Trapp, West Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

Myles was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lucille, one son, Timothy, one sister, Ethel and two brothers, Earl and Lyle.
