Della (Brogan) McLinn
1929 ~ 2016
Della (Brogan) McLinn passed away May 7, 2016 at the age of 86 at home in Emmett, ID. Della was born to Edgar and Hattie (Hale) Brogan on July 25, 1929 in Emmett, Idaho. She grew up on a farm during the Depression area and worked hard all her life. She married Bert Leroy McLinn in Winnemucca, NV in 1949 and had four children, Gerald, Linda, John, and Penny. Della and Bert farmed their whole married life raising crops and cattle and she continued to farm by herself even after his death. After she slowed down on the farm, she loved to sew and began attending bazaars where she met so many wonderful people every year. Many people have enjoyed the fruits of her labor. Della loved her family and all the outings, whether it was simple birthday parties or vacation trips to Disneyworld, Branson, Alaska, Florida, Ireland, Hawaii, the true pleasure was being with each other. Della is survived by her sister, Mary Donnelly of Eagle; her children, Linda (Charlie) McKie of Emmett, ID, John McLinn of Ola, ID; and Penny (Tom) Herold of Palmer, AK; 11 grandchildren, Jill (Ken) Liliencamp, Eagle, ID; Ryan (Emilee) McLinn of New Plymouth; Sean (Amanda) McLinn of Nampa, ID; Mark McLinn of Portland, OR; Adam McLinn of Homer, AK; Peter (Beth) Herold of LA; Josh (Devin) Herold of Palmer, AK; Marissa Herold of Brookdale, CA; Jared (Jamie) McKie of Nampa, ID; Jason (Randi Anne) McKie of Laurel Hills, FL; and Jordan McKie of Emmett, ID; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Glenadine and Ethel; a brother, Willis; husband, Bert Leroy McLinn; and son, Gerald McLinn. Our grandchildren will always remember Grandma as the wonderful loving woman who taught them how to tie their shoes and to take pride in learning their multiplication facts. She always had time to play basketball with them well into her late 70s. She's the one who taught most of them how to fish and shoot a gun. Her hunting and fishing abilities and stories were legendary, and she had the pictures to back them up! Mother was very competitive and loved to watch her grandchildren, and then great-grandchildren compete in sports. She never turned down a chance to watch them play. We'll all miss her support. We would like to thank Dr. Arnold Silva for the compassion he showed our mother and Horizon Home/Health and Hospice for their caring professional staff that showed such heartfelt kindness and help during a difficult time. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett.
