Lillian Hulst Briggs, 84, a resident of Siletz, Ore., died Oct. 4, 2006 in Newport, Ore.
She was born June 23, 1922 in Island County to Herman and Elizabeth (Joungward) Hulst.
Lillian was raised on Hastie Lake, near Oak Harbor. She attended school in Oak Harbor and graduated from Oak Harbor High School. After graduation she worked at the Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor. She then went to college in Portland where she met and married Richard Briggs on July 4, 1948. They were married 58 years. She was also a member of various churches throughout Washington and Oregon.
Survivors include her husband, Richard L. Briggs, of Siletz; son, Paul R. Briggs of Clara City, Minn.; daughter, Linnea and husband Jerry McCormack of Ferndale; and four grandchildren, Steven, Douglas, Aaron and Layton.
A graveside celebration of life gathering was held.
