Ruth Rose Svoboda, 90, originally of Creston, NE, passed into eternal life on May 8, 2016, in Lakewood, Colorado.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13 at 10:00 AM at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus, Nebraska, with Ken Paul officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Creston, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Friday beginning at 9:00 AM at Gass Haney Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Lakewood, 8210 West 10th Ave., Lakewood, CO, 80214, or the Foothills Animal Shelter, 580 McIntyre Street, Golden, CO, 80401.
Ruth was born July 27, 1925, in Platte County, Nebraska, (near Creston) to Herman and Bena (Kruse) Janssen. She graduated from Creston High School in 1942. Ruth worked at Dietz Mercantile in Creston and on June 4, 1952, was united in marriage to Robert Svoboda in Creston. They made their home in Dodge, Nebraska, where she worked in the grocery store and later was a switchboard operator. After moving to Lakewood, Ruth worked at the Colorado National Bank until retiring in 1990. Ruth loved to crochet and made many items for charities and the relatives, and always made time for a word search puzzle. At the age of 90 she was still a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lakewood.
Ruth is survived by:
Daughter - Carol Svoboda of Lakewood, CO
Son - Mike Svoboda of Lakewood, CO
