Rela B. Ackerman, 100, died on May 6, 2016 in Midvale, Utah. She was born September 9, 1915, to Ernest L. and Alice Shulsen Burgon in West Jordan, Utah.

Rela graduated from Jordan High School and the Pace Institute of New York City (accounting).

Married Rodney F. Ackerman on August 1, 1959. They lived and worked in the East and Midwest until retirement in 1980 when they moved to Salt Lake City and later to Midvale. Rela was the eighth child of a family of eleven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Bella, Pearl, Dolly, and Winnie; and brothers: Ernie, George, and Harold; and a special friend, Allen Robertson.

Survived by three sisters: Marquita Halvorsen, Billie Tripp, and Jean Robertson, who all live in Midvale.

Rela was honored in Salt Lake City when she received the Living Treasure Award from the Gerontology Center at the U of U and the Healthy Aging Program of Salt Lake County in recognition of her many hours of volunteer service.

The family would like to thank Canyon Creek Assisted Living for their wonderful care.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, with a viewing prior to the service from 10:00–11:00 A.M. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah.
