Myrtle G. Carpenter, 91, of Winona died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Lake Winona Manor, Winona.

Myrtle Geneva was born March 26, 1915, in Hesper, Iowa, to James and Johanna (Bjorgan) Ramlo.

She married Harlan A. Carpenter on Sept. 8, 1932, in Locust, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1978.

She was a presser for Schaefer Cleaners and later Leaf's Cleaners, retiring in 1978.

Myrtle is a member of Central Lutheran Church and worked many years on its funeral lunch committee. She was a charter member of Lodge 505 Sons of Norway, Nor-Win Chapter.

She is survived by a son, Alexas J. Carpenter, Fontana, Calif.; daughters, Beverly Hanson, Rushford, Minn., and Gloria (Joseph) Bronk, Minnesota City, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, David; daughter, Diane Kouba; two sisters; one brother; a set of twin sisters in infancy; two sons-in-law; and one daughter-in-law.

Funeral services for Myrtle will be Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Central Lutheran Church, Winona, with Rev. Scott Olson officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona. Friends may call at the church Wednesday, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Casket bearers will be, Wyanita Ferden, Carolyn Johnson, Larry Hanson, Steve Bronk, David Bronk and Craig Hanson; and the honorary casket bearers will be, Janelle Bielak, Maureen Schenck, Lori Pelzl, Lisa Kouba, Sonia Stutska, James Kouba and Alexas Kouba, all of whom are Myrtle's grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Central Lutheran Church, Winona.
