Born in Roanoke, VA to the late Charlie Logan and the late Ruth Witcher Ervin. An only child, Joan grew up in Bridgeport, CT and later moved with her family to Buffalo, NY. Joan attended Buffalo Public Schools. She met and married Sherman Nathaniel Crockett, now deceased, in August, 1953. The couple had three children, Marcyl Denise, Corrinne LaVerne and Sherman Nathaniel, Jr. 'Buddy'. Joan was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Buffalo, NY. Due to her deteriorating heath, she relocated to Atlanta, GA in November 2004, to be cared for by her children.

Joan is survived by her three children, Marcyl, Corrinne and Sherman Jr.; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Natalie, Mia, Castor, Rachel, Michael, Malik and Hannah; five great grandchildren, Brendan, Billy Jr., Marcus, Kayla and Christian; son-in-law Michael; daughter-in-law Barbara; and a host of friends and relatives, all of whom will miss her dearly. Joan's Homegoing Service will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 12:00 PM, at DIVINE FUNERAL SERVICES, INC., 5620 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia, GA 30058. Interment at Hillandale Memorial Gardens, Lithonia, GA 30058.
