Irene F. Alderfer, 96, of Souderton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in the Souderton Mennonite Homes in Franconia Twp.

Born in Souderton, she was a daughter of the late Alan R. and Katie (Freed) Alderfer.

She was employed as a sorter and packer for the former American Olean Tile Company in Lansdale for 28 years prior to her retirement in 1985.

Miss Alderfer was a longtime member of Souderton Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School. An artist, she was a member of the Doylestown Art League and the Mid-Atlantic Porcelain Artists. In her free time she enjoyed traveling, porcelain painting, and having her own kiln at the Souderton Mennonite Homes where she resided.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eight siblings: Alice F. Landis, Eva F. Geissinger, Mary Ann Swartley, Frank Alderfer, Titus F. Alderfer, Orpha F. Kolb, Margaret F. Alderfer and Ruth A. Rush.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11 AM in the Summit View Auditorium of the Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, PA 18964. Interment will follow in the Souderton Mennonite Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
