Karin E. Fernandez, 71, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at home under the care of her family and Hospice of South Georgia. She was born in Germany and lived in Liberty County several years and in Long County the past 20 years. She had worked as a seamstress and in the Long County School Nutrition Department. She was a Catholic by faith. Survivors are her companion, Charles Wells of Ludowici; daughter and son-in-law, Marion Barrett and Leo of Ludowici; son and daughter-in-law, Frank Fernandez, Jr. and Pace of Bethlehem, GA; brother, Libo Kramer of Germany; step-daughters, Tina Phillips (Eric) and Danielle Hewitt, Evangeline McCarty (Ian), and Emily Wells of Ludowici, and Miriam Baxter of Brunswick; step-son, Doug Wells (Michelle) of Sherman, TX; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 11 at 2 PM in the Howard Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Robert Long officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Evan Westberry, Eric Phillips, Jr., Darrell Wilson, Jason Woods, Andy Harris, and Leo Barrett.
