Bryan Snyder III of Austin, Texas passed away May 5, 2016 at 94. He was born March 17, 1922 in Dallas, Texas to Marguerite Helen Shumate Snyder and Bryan Snyder Jr.

A 1943 graduate of Texas A&M with a BS in Economics, Bryan was a member of the Corps of Cadets, Battery A, Coast Artillery. He graduated with a Lieutenant JG commission and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His duties included encoding and decoding Top Secret messages following training at Northwestern University Midshipman School at Chicago, Illinois; U.S. Navy Communications School at Harvard University and the Army-Navy War College in Washington, DC. Assigned to the San Diego Naval Communications Office Headquarters under Admiral William "Bull" Halsey, Commander of the Third Fleet, he was stationed at Noumea, New Caledonia in the South Pacific.

After the war, Bryan's life centered on love of family. He married Billie Jane Chandler on June 12, 1948 in Austin and raised three children, Bryan Chandler Snyder, Jane Snyder Butler and Marguerite Helen Snyder Overs.

In 1950, he began farming and raising chickens at Five Oaks Farm on what is now North Lamar Boulevard at Parmer Lane. He later worked for Maverick Clark Printing Co., Steck Printing Co. and as a purchaser for the State of Texas. Bryan was a loyal member and officer of the Texas Division of the Magna Charta Dames, the Huguenot Society, the Jamestowne Society, the Sons of the American Revolution and the Austin Golden Kiwanis Club.

Bryan was preceded in death by his spouse, Billie Jane Chandler Snyder of Austin; his brothers, Fallon Carter Snyder and Oliver Page Snyder of Dallas, Texas and son-in-law, Mark Edward Overs of Austin.

His spouse, Suzanne Menzel Lindeman Snyder of Austin, survives him. Other survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Chandler Snyder and Mary Lyn Behrens Casebier Snyder of Austin; his daughter and son-in law, Jane Snyder Butler and Dr. Charles Frank Butler Jr. of Waco; and daughter, Marguerite Helen Snyder Overs of Minneola, Fla. Bryan had six grandchildren with their respective spouses: Amanda Faith Casebier Snyder and partner, Stephen Key; Jenny Marie Overs Clawson and husband, John Mark Clawson; Lara Louise Overs Antique and husband, Javier Enrique Antique; Sarah Jane Butler Jacks and husband, Adam Patrick Jacks, Ph.D.; Susan Elizabeth Butler; Catherine Anne Butler Bohnet and husband, Jason Donald Bohnet. He also had seven great grandchildren: Jayden Micah Clawson, Jillian Marguerite Clawson, Victoria Elizabeth Antique, Samuel Andres Antique, Emily Jane Jacks, Cooper Hart Bohnet and Pierce Charles Bohnet.

"Grandpa" will be missed by all his family who love him dearly. Friends and acquaintances express admiration and affection for his kindness, generosity, patience, understanding, resilience, and loving pleasant nature. He will be well remembered for his service to his country and as a wonderful family man.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 209 West 27th Street, Austin, TX 78705, 512-476-3589. Burial following at Capital Memorial Parks, 14501 North IH35, Pflugerville. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to All Saints Episcopal Church.
