In the name of God amen. I Solomon Barnes Sr., of the province of North Carolina and County of Wilkes, planter being very sick and weak in body; but in perfect mind and memory, calling to mind immortality and that it is appointed for all men once to die doth reccomend my soul to my great God who hath give it to me and my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent form according to the discretion of my executors, not doubting but I shall receive the same again at general ressurection by the mighty power of God and doth ordain, constitute and appoint my well beloved sons John Barnes and Solomon Barnes my sole executors of this my last Will and Testament and doth by its presence revoke and disannul all other writing or writings of will or wills, testaments or testaments to the contrary of this my last will and testament and at the dispossal of my worldly estate I do dispose of it in the manner and form as followath:
Elizabeth Barnes: To my dear beloved wife Elizabeth Barnes the plantation that I now live upon and a negro fellow named Sam, for her lifetime and after her deceace to my beloved son Peter Barnes, his heirs or assigns forever.
Reuben Barnes: I give and bequeath to my beloved son Reuben Barnes a tract of land containing one hundred acres joining my son John Barnes north side line to him or his heirs for ever.
My daughter Lydia Isbell, my son Charles Barnes, my son George Barnes, my daughter Rachel Brown, deceased, and my daughter Sarah Barnes have all received their portion, and I cut them off with no more than five shillings of spare money.
Peter Barnes: I give and bequeath to my well beloved son, Peter Barnes, a tract of land containing 186 acres joining on the west side the tract that I now live on; and a tract of land containing 80 acres joining on the south side of the land I now live on, and a tract of land containing 95 acres of land on the new entry on the south side of land joining the land that I now live on. A certain gray mare and colt, bridle and saddle, one cow and one bed and furniture.
Ruth Barnes: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Ruth Barnes a tract of land containing 6 acres joining Solomon Barnes line and 10 acres of the new survey of 50 acres joining said tract on the south side and 10 acres on the Creek of the new survey of 200 acres joining said tract and a young black horse, bridle and saddle and one cow and one bed and furniture.
Mary Cearly: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Mary Carley one cow or ten dollars.
Solomon Barnes: I give and bequeath to my beloved son Solomon Barnes 95 acres adjoining him and Ford Fortner lines of the new survey of 200 acres and 40 acres of the new survey of 50 acres joining the Roberson tract of land..
John Barnes: I give and bequeath to my beloved son John Barnes one cow and one bed and furniture.
Elizabeth Barnes: To my dear beloved wife, Elizabeth Barnes, the personal estate over and above the aforementioned legicies that it shall be hers till her decease.
