Funeral services for Elder Billy "Willie" W. Huckaby, 75, of Davis were held June 25, 2004 at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Purcell with Elder Perry Miers and Elder Vernon Johnson officiating. A committal service was held that afternoon at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City with Elder Mike Ivey and Elder Allen Huckaby officiating. Services were under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
Elder Huckaby died June 22, 2004 in Ardmore.
He was born Nov. 29, 1928 in Frederick on a farm, the youngest of nine children of Loren Rogers Huckaby and Rhuea Mae Brown Huckaby. He lived in Texas, Arkansas and California for many years.
Mr. Huckaby married Elva Lee Reid Sept. 6, 1947.
He worked for United Engines as a machinist in Oakland, Calif., for 25 years.
On June 28, 1961 he was ordained as an elder for the Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Huckaby returned to Oklahoma in 1967, and Mr. Huckaby has served as a pastor in Oklahoma City, Elmore City and Shilo Primitive Baptist Church in Sulphur at the time of his death.
Mr. Huckaby received his associate degree in gerontology from Oklahoma City Community College.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, J.W. Huckaby, A.E. "Buger Red" Huckaby, J.A. "Jiggs" Huckaby, T.L. "Huck" Huckaby and an infant, L.S. Huckaby and two sisters, Beatrice Findley and Bonita Wall.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Huckaby, of the home; a son, Billy W. "Sonny" Huckaby Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Lonsdale, Ark.; a daughter, Teresa Earnheart and her husband, John, of Edmond; a sister, Lura Ivey and her husband, Lee Roy, of Livermore, Calif.; four sisters-in-law, Aline Huckaby of Mena, Ark., Bessie Huckaby and Eunice Huckaby, both of Manteca, Calif., and Doris Fox of Northridge, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harris Hopper, Lyndol Green, Billy J. Huckaby, Clint Earnheart, Eddie Huckaby and Stephen Findley.
Honorary pallbearers were Elder Allen Huckaby, Elder Mike Ivey, C.L. Hampton, Curtis Winchester, Bill Brown, Hubert Jones and Chester Sliger.
