James Ned Campbell, 86, of Bluff City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Middlesboro Health Care Center in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Mr. Campebell was born on October 4, 1929, in Pineville, Kentucky, a son of the late Aubrey Foster Campbell and Laura Ella Miracle Campbell. He was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Campbell was an avid fisherman and hunter, as well a licensed pilot. In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Ola Mae Barnett Campbell on January 16, 2013; one sister, Sadie Perkins Hensley; and one brother, Curtis Ray Campbell. He is survived by one sister, Charlene Asbury, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two nieces, Brenda Retherford and husband, Dan, of Bluff City, Tenn., and Paula Rice, of Johnson City, Tenn.; special friend and caregiver, Jeff Simpson and wife, Tabitha, of Bluff City, Tenn.; sister-in-law and caregiver, Luenette Smith and husband, Preston, of Tazewell, Tenn.; two special neighbors, Pat Hewitt, and Miriam Morrell, of Bluff City, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews. Uncle Ned was very special and loved by everyone that knew him. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral Service to honor the life of Mr. James Ned Campbell will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Minister Bob Robinson and Minister Preston Smith officiating. Committal and Entombment will follow in the Heritage Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, Tennessee. Military honors will be rendered by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard Post #6975. Pallbearers will be Dan Retherford, Jeff Simpson, Austin Simpson, Marty Hoskins, Jeremy Smith, and Jamy Smith. The family would like to give a special honor and appreciation to the staff of Middlesboro Health Care Center for all the wonderful care given to Mr. Campebell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
