Frances S. Kidwell Payne, 95, left her home Tuesday morning, with her lipstick on, and is now at peace in the presence of her beloved Lord, Jesus Christ. She was born March 25, 1921 in Jackson County to the late Robert Nathan Smith and Martha Ellen Higdon Smith.

Surviving: son, Dennis Ray Kidwell of Raleigh; daughters: Jan Elise Smith (Tom) of Raleigh, Julia Fran Rouse (Darrell) of Franklin; grandchildren: Anna Rouse Robinson (Wayne) of Raleigh, Amy Jon Rouse (Jason Jackson) of Franklin, Cara Smith, Deidre Smith both of Hollywood, California; 4 great- granddaughters; and a sister: Jo Ann Smith of Knightdale.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Captain Julian M. Kidwell, (USAF); son, Rhodi Nathan Kidwell; grandson, Daniel Rouse; and a sister, Nell Hughes.

Denny, Julia and Jan would like to express their deepest love and appreciation to Elaine Brannon, the staff at Transitions LifeCare and Perpetual Home Care for their loyal and excellent care of our mother.

Friends and family are invited for a time of food and fellowship in memory of Frances at the Runnymede home on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.
