Thelma Jean Foster, age 86, of Monett, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Thelma was born on December 21, 1929 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Ellis Hugh [Colyer] and [Neoma 'Oma' Kendall] Naomi Colyer McConnel.
Thelma was a homemaker, a loving mother and a member of the Countryside Christian Church in Monett where she enjoyed singing in the church choir.
On November 17, 1950, she married Jay Merton Foster in Oakland, CA. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2006, after fifty-five years of marriage.
To this union, she was blessed with three children.
She is survived by her two sons, Dave Foster and wife Deana of Purdy, MO and Dale Foster and wife Retha of Wichita, KS; one daughter, Diane Everhart of Burlington, KS; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Elma Salvatore and Wilma Delk.
Funeral services for Mrs. Foster will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Buchanan Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.

He was born in Bloomfield Jan. 15, 1898.
He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, and the Southeast Missouri mounted patrol.
Survivors include his wife, Ziltha Colyer; three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Delk of Hattiesburge (sic), Miss., Mrs. Elma Salvatori of Sarasota, Fla., and Mrs. Thelma Jean Foster of Wichita, Kan.; two stepsons, J. T. and E. B. Edwards, both of Sheffield, Ala.; three brothers, Ben Colyer of Wappapello, Rueal Colyer of San Francisco, and Barrett Colyer of St. Louis; two sisters, Mrs. Eura Formway of Armona, Calif. and Mrs. Opal Corwall of Tuscon, and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Rainey Funeral chapel with the Rev. Delvis Roberts officiating.
Burial will be in the Dexter cemetery.
Rose Croyx (sic) [Croix] Masonic services will be in the Rainey Funeral chapel Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Thelma was born on December 21, 1929 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Ellis Hugh [Colyer] and [Neoma 'Oma' Kendall] Naomi Colyer McConnel.
Thelma was a homemaker, a loving mother and a member of the Countryside Christian Church in Monett where she enjoyed singing in the church choir.
On November 17, 1950, she married Jay Merton Foster in Oakland, CA. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2006, after fifty-five years of marriage.
To this union, she was blessed with three children.
She is survived by her two sons, Dave Foster and wife Deana of Purdy, MO and Dale Foster and wife Retha of Wichita, KS; one daughter, Diane Everhart of Burlington, KS; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Elma Salvatore and Wilma Delk.
Funeral services for Mrs. Foster will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Buchanan Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.

DEXTER - Ellis H. Colyer, 72, died at the Dexter Memorial hospital yesterday.
He was born in Bloomfield Jan. 15, 1898.
He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, and the Southeast Missouri mounted patrol.
Survivors include his wife, Ziltha Colyer; three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Delk of Hattiesburge (sic), Miss., Mrs. Elma Salvatori of Sarasota, Fla., and Mrs. Thelma Jean Foster of Wichita, Kan.; two stepsons, J. T. and E. B. Edwards, both of Sheffield, Ala.; three brothers, Ben Colyer of Wappapello, Rueal Colyer of San Francisco, and Barrett Colyer of St. Louis; two sisters, Mrs. Eura Formway of Armona, Calif. and Mrs. Opal Corwall of Tuscon, and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Rainey Funeral chapel with the Rev. Delvis Roberts officiating.
Burial will be in the Dexter cemetery.
Rose Croyx (sic) [Croix] Masonic services will be in the Rainey Funeral chapel Tuesday at 8 p.m.

DEXTER - Mrs. Myrtle Opal CoIyer, 62, died Sunday in the Lutheran hospital, St Louis.
She was born in Steelville July 8, 1906, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Plank.
She was past matron of the Order of Easter Star, and member of the Methodist church.
On Feb. 11, 1948, she was married to Ellis H. 'Kit' Colyer. He survives.
Other survivors are stepdaughters, Wilma Marie DeIk, Hattiesburg, Miss., Elma Geneva Salvatory (sic) [Salvatori], Villa Park, Ill., and Thelma Jean Foster, Wichita, Kans., five brothers, Clarence Plank, Steelville, Cecil Lawrence and Gentry Plank, all of St. Louis, and Raymond Plank, Salem, also 10 stepgrandchildren.
