US Soldier killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Pvt Rollins enlisted into the US Army on November 26, 1872, at Elizabethtown, KY. He was described as 5'10", blue eyes, brown hair with a fair complexion. His civilian occupation was farmer. Rollins was assigned to Company A, 7th US Cavalry Regiment. His daily duties were company barber and orderly. At the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Company A was attached to Major Marcus Reno's battalion. It is believed that Rollins was killed during the retreat from the Valley Fight. His unidentified remains were likely first buried where they had been found. In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on Last Stand Hill. Records also spelled Rollins' name as Rawlins.
