Obituary: Gregory N. Kramer, 79, of St. Charles, Dies.
ST. CHARLES - Gregory R. Kramer, 79 of rural St. Charles, a longtime St. Charles-area farmer and active community member, died Saturday afternoon of an apparent heart attack at the farm of his son in rural St. Charles.
Mr. Kramer was born Jan. 2, 1901, in Elba Township, Winona County, He married Evabell Davidshofer on June 17, 1933, in Minneiska, and the couple farmed in the St. Charles area. Mr. Kramer had retired from active farming but helped on his sons' farms.
He served on the board of directors of the People's Cooperative Power Association of Rochester for 27 years and had served as president of Elba Coop Creamery for many years. He was also a past director of Rochester Dairy, past supervisor of Elba Township, past member of District 95 school board, and a 60-years member of the Knights of Columbus Plainview Council. Mr. Kramer was a member and past trustee of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and a charter member of the St. Aloysius Society of Elba.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edward and Leo, both of rural St. Charles; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph H (Regina)Leisen of Plainview, Mrs. Stanley (Mildred) Dee Jr. of Rochester, Mrs. Thomas (Lucille) Helfter of Le Sueur, and Mrs. Harold (Joan) fort Jr. of St. Charles; 35 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Neil (Alsadie ) Hansgen of rural St. Charles.
He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba with the Rev. Donald Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the service Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today followed by a wake service at 8:30 p.m., both at the church.
The Sellner-Hoff funeral Home in St. Charles is in charge of arrangements.
