Josephine “Aunty J” Yolanda Hulihe'e Alapai, 86, of Milolii and Kailua-Kona, died April 25 at the family’s residence. Born in Hianalole, Hawaii on December 19, 1929, she was a retired hotel attendant at the King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kona Stake Center in Kailua-Kona.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. May 5 at her residence at 74-5157 Puuolokaa Pl., in Kailua-Kona for an all night vigil. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. May 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kona Stake Center in Kailua-Kona for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Luncheon and fellowship will be at the church’s cultural hall. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Sharon) Alapai of Hilo, James (Trina) Alapai of Kalaoa,Kona, Joseph Alapai of Kailua-Kona, Patrick (Lovelyn) Alapai and Hiram (Corina) Alapai, all of Kalaoa, Kona, and Derrick (Megan) Alapai of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Maile (Bruce) Goold of Las Vegas, NV, Cindy (David) Kaulia of Kailua-Kona, Cynthia (Pancho) Johnson of Milolii, Nani (Isaac) Hoohuli of Kealia, and Seraphine Kaulia-Alapai Salazar of Kailua-Kona; brother, Kazuo Fukumitsu of Lanihau; 45 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
