Mrs Lee Hunter, nee Miss Kittie Owen, daughter of Mr and Mrs N J Owen of this city, died at her home in Griffin, Thursday, after a brief illness. Her body was to Barnesville for the funeral and burial, Friday afternoon at the First Methodist Church. The service was conducted by Rev Norman W Cox and the Rev Frank Quillian. Kittie was laid to rest with her infant in the Owen-Sappington Cemetery
In the mean time Mrs Frances Amelia Moore Owen, the sister in law of Kittie Owen Hunter, was in critical condition at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs J J Moore, at Topeka Junction, six miles from this city. M. Pierce Owen had left his wife's beside to attend the funeral of his sister when called back just before the hour set for Kittie's funeral and his wife died shortly after his arrival about 2 o'clock.
The funeral service for Mrs Owen was held Saturday afternoon in the First Baptist Church of which she was a member, also conducted by the Rev Noman W Cox and the Rev Frank Quillian. Her body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery. She and Pierce had only been married about a year.
