Hugh Dickson Boozer, son of Henry and Mary Ann (Garmany) Boozer, born 6/1842 in Abbeville, Greenwood County, South Carolina, died 4/30/1907. He enlisted 7/19/1861 in Company G, 4th Regt Texas Infantry, C.S.A. – Hood's Texas Brigade, known as the "Grimes County Greys". He was appointed 2nd Corporal 10/1/1862; promoted 4th Sergeant; served in the Battle at Gaines Mill, 6/27/1862; captured (POW) 7/2/1863 at Gettysburg, PA and was transferred from Ft. Delaware, DEL. To City Point, VA. Escaped 2/27/1865 and returned to Grimes County, TX.

Married Judith Orcene Gresham on 10/2/1865. They had 6 children: Irene Frances, Robert D., Loula Judith (Married Guy U. McCarty), Sadie Etta (Married J.E. Crownover), Simon Ashford (Married Cora A. Alexander), Goree Langston (married Minnie May Phillips).
