Cecil Castleman, 57 of Whiteash was dead on arrival at the Sparta Hospital at 4:30 pm Friday, February 20, 1970 of an apparent heart attack suffered after changing a flat tire while he was traveling near Coulterville. He was born in Williamson County August 2, 1912 to George and Laura Ditterline Castleman, both deceased. He was first married to Lois Kilgore who died in 1952. He later married Violet DeBarry in 1953 and she survives. Other survivors include daughter, Cathy Lynn Castleman at home, two grandchildren, sister, Mrs. Eulala Strunk, Mrion and a brother, Lloyd Castleman of Marion. A daughter Elaine preceded him in death.
He had operated the Mobil gas station in Marion for 14 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW and IOOF Lodge at Johnston City. He graduated from Johnston City High School in 1930. Funeral services will be Monday at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Warren and Rev. Tom Davis officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
