JESSE WINANS
2-7-1887 -- 3-24-1891

Jesse, the bright little boy of Boyd F. and Minerva Zuendel Winans, of Kellettville, Pa., died Tuesday morning of Scarlet Fever.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Zuendel burying ground at Starr, Forest County.

We extend our sincere sympathy to the heartbroken parents.

When we see our precious Jesse,
That we tended with such care,
Rudely taken from our fireside,
How our aching hearts despair.
Round his little grave we linger
Till the setting sun is low,
Feeling all our hopes have perished
With the flower we cherished so.

He will sleep, but not forever,
In the lone and silent grave;
Blessed be the Lord that taketh,
Blessed be the Lord that gave.
In the bright Eternal City
Death can never, never come!
In his own good time He'll call us
From our rest to Home, Sweet Home.

B. F. Winans

Note: Poem written at death of Jesse Winans from scarlet fever by his father Boyd F. Winans. This was his second child that had died young. Dema Winans, a daughter, had died the year before, also from scarlet fever.
