US Soldier killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Pvt Monroe enlisted into the US Army on September 14, 1875, in Cincinnati, OH. On October 21, 1875, Monroe was assigned to Company F, 7th US Cavalry Regiment at Ft Lincoln, Dakota Territory. Company F was known as the Gray Horse, because of the gray horses they rode.
