At Rest.
The light in life's temple by day and finally went out altogether, and an estimable young lady, Miss Annie King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. King, of this city, sank to rest Saturday night, May 9th, 1885, aged 25 years and six months. Her disease was of a complicated nature, and had baffled the skill of the physicians. She had lain on the bed of alfliction for almost a year, yet she bore her suffering with great fortitude. The funeral took place from the Methodist church at 2 p. m. Monday. The remains were escorted from the residence to the church by the M. E. Church Sabbath school, of which church and school deceased was a devout and consistent member. On the coffin lay two crosses, composed of primroses, smilax and lilies, the emblem of purity, and withal a beautiful and touching token of the kindly regard and esteem in which Annie was held. Rev. Edmonston read a lesson from the Bible and offered a fervent prayer, and after the singing, "one by one," he made a few impressive and comforting remarks. The religion Miss Anna professed some years ago gave her the victory; and her friends the assurance that having lived the life of the righteous, her death was peaceful and her destiny a glorious immortality.
