Frances Quackenbush Fay was the daughter of Adam and Rachel Mitchell Quackenbush. She married Lawrence Fay in 1867 and they had three children, two of which survived infancy.

By the time of the 1880 Federal Census, Fannie and her family along with her sister Carrie Quackenbush had relocated to Cameron, Hall County, NE. In 1881, they were joined by Fannie’s parents, Adam and Rachel Quackenbush. Sometime before 1900, Lawrence returned to Gloversville and worked as a glove cutter. Both Lawrence and Fannie listed themselves as “widow” on the 1900 Federal Census.

By 1899, Fannie and her son Archie had moved to St Louis, MO. Archie worked as superintendent of Gause Shelton Hat Co. and Fannie resided with him. By 1920, Archie had gotten married. Fannie moved to Springfield MO before 1926, and lived with her sister Carrie Quackenbush Woolery.

Fannie was survived by her son Archie and her daughter Laura B. Fay Lange, She was also survived by her sister Carrie Woolery who was the informant on her death certificate. The cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage. She was buried in Cabool Cemetery.
