Front field-stone might be an earlier generation Ricketts grave-marker (perhaps Edward?).

View of Ricketts farm from atop the Ricketts family graveyard. An earlier lath-board, log-framed, Ricketts house was situated where the blue truck is sitting. It faced onto that dirt road, and was torn down in the 1960s.

Powell is indeed a Cherokee family surname and also found as a minor surname in the Creek and Seminole Indian tribes, and Powell is also a Melungeon surname.

The Zachariah Ricketts and William who deeded the hill Valley PA farm to Hezekiah Ricketts had an official residence, in 1784, in Rockbridge County, VA.

Powell is a Cherokee surname. Margaret Powell Ricketts' Heritage just possibly comes from an Appalachian melungeon community, that interacted with those various Virginian and Appalachian Indian tribes.

There are several Creek-stone grave-markers in a row in front of Hezekiah and Hannah Wilcox Rickets graves. Are these an earlier generation or merely infant graves?
