Eldest of the five children of Joel Pearson (1798-1877) and his wife Sarah Emily Fornea ((1808-1858), Miriam married Elijah Yarborough (1833-1901) in Washington Parish, LA on 30 Jan. 1861; the Rev. William (Willy) Venable officiated. Her husband, from China Grove, MS, served in Wingfield's Regiment of the Louisiana Cavalry during the Civil War. The couple farmed near Slaughter, LA and had seven children. Miriam died when her youngest child was six months old.

Family records show that Miriam is buried with a centotaph for her husband Elijah Yarborough at Bluff Creek Baptist Church Cemetery; he is buried with his first grandchild Samuel Elijah Pearson (1893-1894) in Sewell Cemetery in Jackson, East Feliciana, LA.
