Born 1891 Ipswich, Qld.; son of Joseph and Violet (nee Trestrail) Foote of Buderin, Queensland. He enlisted on 27/7/1915 and embarked with the 11th Reinforcements, 9th Infantry Battalion from Brisbane for active service abroad on 5/10/1915 per HMAT "Warilda" (A69). He was wounded in action and returned to a dressing station to have his wounds attended but refused to remain at the station. Sgt. Foote returned to his battalion to assist other wounded soldiers to reach assistance. He returned numerous times to assist wounded soldiers and provided leadership and encouragement to other soldiers. He was awarded the Military Medal posthumously on 19/4/1917 for bravery in the field. He was killed in action at Monquet Farm, France, aged 25 years.
