Ev Fortino, 100, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at her home.
A Funeral Mass for Ev will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski presiding and Deacon Jim Damitio assisting. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church or Woodland Hospice.
Ev was born February 14, 1915, in Lansing, daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Spagnuolo) Celentino. A graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lansing in 1933, Ev married Alfonso C. Fortino on Feb. 14, 1940, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lansing.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading, and bowling.
Ev is survived by three children, Sandy (Joe) Falsetta of Mt. Pleasant, Jim (Elizabeth) Fortino of Sebring, FL, and Teresa (Greg) Best of Cedar Rapids, IA; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Don) Schneider of Beal City, Barry (Debra) DeLau of Mt. Pleasant, Deena (David) Gilbert of Virginia Beach, VA, Erin (Greg) Petkovski of Mason, Neila Fortino of Rowayton, CT, Allen (Amy) Best of Iowa City, IA, and Michael Best of Cedar Rapids, IA; 10 great-grandchildren, Jordan and Mackenzie Schneider, Cross and Hailey DeLau, Perrin and Noah Gilbert, Samuel Petkovski, and Sophie, Nathalie and Ella Radtke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfonso in 1979; son, Robert Fortino in 1975; daughter, Mary Jo DeLau in 1991; and siblings, Marie Spaniola, Virginia Bozzo and Joseph Celentino.
