Ms. Hardy was born June 27, 1927 in Surry County to the late Randall Hobart and Lena Matthews Jackson.
She retired from the North Carolina School System and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy.
Ms. Hardy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Jimmie Scott of Claudville, VA; two grandchildren, John Ewell Scott and his wife, Kayla, and Lena Catherine Scott; two great-grandchildren, Gavin Ray Scott and Lakinzie Scott; and a special friend, Jack Hardy.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Hardy was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Jackson Christian; and a brother, Randall Matthew Jackson.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Steve Lindsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
