Ralph Robertson Simpson was born to Carl and Alba Simpson in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. The family moved to LA during the Dust Bowl era and moved to Bakersfield in the 1940s.

Ralph was a foreman for Lockheed Aircraft. He founded Simpson Masonry in 1958, later C&R Masonry. Between 1958 and 1992 Ralph built many buildings in Bakersfield, among them the Valley Plaza Mall, Stockdale High School, CSUB Science Building, and many others. He was president of Kern County Builders Exchange in 1977.

Ralph enjoyed life. He loved deep sea fishing, his horses, Las Vegas trips and vacations with family at Bass Lake and spending time at the cabin in Sugarloaf. He played the guitar and loved country music.

Ralph is survived by 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He had 4 siblings and was preceded in death by brother, Dr. Vernon Simpson.
