, 82, of Joplin passed away at her home Sunday April 24, 2016.

Betty was born September 22, 1933 in Holt, Missouri.

She was the daughter of Arthur David Corum and Lorne “Coursey” Corum.

Betty moved to Joplin in 1971 from the Belton, MO area. She was a homemaker and a Christian.

Betty was united in marriage to Rex Aubrey Boykin on October 30, 1951. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2006.

Survivors include four sons; Rex Boykin (Vanessa) of Kansas City, MO, Mike Boykin (Gina) of Joplin, David Boykin (Marinda) of Grove, OK, Jason Boykin (Desiree) of Republic, MO, three daughters; Deborah Honey of Joplin, Teresa Haynes (Tim) of Duncanville, TX and Janet Deckard (Mark) of Ozark, MO, 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren (and two more on the way) and one great-great-grandson. Four sisters; Mary Kathryn Bedsworth of Independence, MO, Judy Stutesman of Nevada, MO, Florence Ramseyer of Harrisonville,MO and Flora Swartz of Harrisonville, MO.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Joseph Corum, Richard Corum, Donald Corum and James Corum and four sisters; Edith Corum Cheek, Juanita Corum Farris, Minnie Corum Alvord, Madrgaret Corum Groves.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at The Way Church at 3rd and McKinley in Joplin.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday April 26, 2016 at The Way Church.

Burial will be at a later date in Stone Cemetery.

Rex Aubrey Boykin, age 78, of Joplin, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at his home following a long illness.

Rex was born on July 25, 1927, in Wilson County, N.C., the son of the late Benjamin and Monty Boykin.

He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II.

He married Betty Sue Corum on Oct. 30, 1951.

Rex was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his seven children.

He was a member of the Mount Hope Church of Christ. He owned and operated Allied Heating and Air in Pittsburg, Kan., retiring in 1974.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 534.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Boykin, Joplin; four sons, Rex A. Boykin Jr. and wife, Vanessa, Kansas City, Mo., Mike Boykin and wife, Gina, Clearville, Pa., David Boykin and wife, Marinda, Grove, Okla., and Jason Boykin and wife, Desiree, Ozark, Mo.; three daughters, Deborah Crouch, Joplin, Teresa Haynes and husband, Tim, Duncanville, Texas, and Janet Deckard and husband, Mark, Springfield, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mount Hope Church of Christ. Michael Lum, Gary Morrison and Patrick Peck, ministers, will officiate.

Burial will be at Stone Cemetery near Diamond, Mo.

The pallbearers will be Rex Boykin Jr., Mike Boykin, Dave Boykin, Jason Boykin, Tim Haynes, Mark Deckard, Randy Crouch and Sean Crouch. Honorary pallbearers will be John Scotty Crouch, Pete Box, Joey Addington, Toby Huff and Don Pritchard.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Hope Church of Christ Missions Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel.
