On May 13, 1899, Emogene married Edward H. Brown. They were 41 and 46 years old. The marriage record listed him as employed as a salesman, but in subsequent census years he worked as a dairy farmer in Monmouth and Wales. Emogene's mother lived with them.
Emogene had no children of her own, but the 1910 census listed a Roy Brown, age 21, as their adopted son. He was not a member of the household in the prior census, so was adopted as an older child. In 1920 he was listed as her son, and in 1930 listed as her nephew. As of 1930, Roy was still living with his widowed mother.
One census listed Emogene as "Genie."
