Chester Ray "Tude" Barlow, 89, of Indianola, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at St. Frances Hospital in Tulsa. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in McAlester, with the Rev. Artie Joe Hearod officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. Born on Jan. 16, 1915, in Scipio, he was the son of Ernest and Louella (Tomlin) Barlow. He grew up and lived in the Scipio area most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for several years at Oklahoma State Penitentiary as a dog trainer, then as a salesman for Field Trial Dog Food. He was an avid wolf hunter and had trained and shown dogs since childhood. He hosted many hunts and won several first place ribbons at other shows. His favorite show was one attended by then Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton. He attended Canadian Shores Freewill Baptist Church. He had previously attended Lone Grove and New Hope Freewill Baptist Churches. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, including, J.B. Barlow, Jerry Barlow, Rocky Barlow, Lilah Rodgers, and Odessa Zummer, and close friends and hunting buddies.
