Funeral services for Mary Jim Sartin Attlesey, age 86 of Yantis will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Childs and Adam Teer officiating. Interment will follow at Seymore Cemetery with Cody Fails, Adam Teer, Evan Teer, Weston Teer, Billy Sartin, Jr. and Bryan Sartin serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mary passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at her residence. She was born on February 7, 1930 in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Jim and Virgie (Bell) Sartin. She married Joe (Shelton) Attlesey on September 22, 1956 in Dallas. He preceded her in death in 1980. She worked for Morris Abstract; worked under Ben Wood and Hazel Minter at the County Clerks’ office; was elected County Clerk in January 1971 and retired in March, 1996 after twenty-five years. She worked a total of forty-five years for Hopkins County. She was a member of the Seymore Church of Christ and Reilly Springs Quilters. She graduated Salutatorian at age sixteen, Class of 1946 from Sulphur Springs High School.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura Teer of Seymore and Linda Fails of Seymore; son, Joe Thurman Attlesey and wife, Emily of Seymore, grandchildren, Cody Fails, Adam Teer and wife, Stephanie, Evan Teer and fiancé, Candy Lehman and Weston Teer; step-grandchildren, Karen Zamora, Lou Dooley and Adam Zamora; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Case, Elijah, Jada, Caleb and Levi and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brother, Billy Sartin.
