US Soldier killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Pvt Sullivan enlisted into the U.S. Army for five years on December 7, 1874, in Boston, Mass. He was described as 5'6", gray eyes, brown hair with a medium complexion. His civilian occupation was listed as laborer. On February 6, 1875, Sullivan reported for duty at Livingston, AL. He was assigned to Company A, 7th U.S. Cavalry Regiment. On January 29, 1876, a general court martial sentenced Sullivan to 3 months confinement and forfeiture of pay ($10) for the same period of time on unspecified charges. At the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Company A was attached to Major Marcus Reno's battalion. Sullivan was killed during the Valley Fight. His horse reportedly bolted near the Little Bighorn River, and warriors struck him down. After the battle he was likely first buried where his remains were found. In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on Last Stand Hill.
