The Lord called Vivian Larson Wesley home Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 13 days. She passed away two weeks and two days after being diagnosed with metastatic cancer.

Born on the family farm, November 11, 1930 in Grove Township, Humboldt County, Iowa. She was a daughter of the late George & Lillie Gangstead Larson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. The family moved to Livermore, Iowa when she was a young child. She attended Livermore schools, graduating high school in 1948. She continued her education at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Vivian's two older sisters were also Mercy alumnae. After completing training, she stayed and worked at Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge for nearly four years before moving to Los Angeles, CA. She met and married her husband in Los Angeles and gave birth to her first child. Her son was the light of her life. Vivian was widowed in 1959.

As a single mother, she moved to the Bay Area of California to be near family. She married a second time and had three more children. She was a born mother. The family lived in Concord, CA before moving to Washington State in 1969. After retiring in 1996, she moved back to California and lived at Rohlffs Manor in Napa for the next seventeen years. She enjoyed living close to her sisters and treasured their time together. In the fall of 2013, she returned to Washington State to be near her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Vivian was an avid reader and life long learner. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord and was deeply dedicated to her family.

Vivian was preceded in death by three infant brothers. Her loving sisters, Helen Brockman and Lillian Jorgesen. Cherished brother, George Jr. (Joe) Larson, and an infant son. She is survived by her four children: Peter (Andrea) of Georgetown, TX; Paul (Kelly) of Lakewood, WA; Pamela (William) and Marc (Mindy) all of Bellingham, WA. Also surviving is loving sister, Thelma Gabisch (Michael) of Oakland, CA; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews, and a number of great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3: 30 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Berthusen Park, 8837 Berthusen Rd. Lynden, WA. Reception & picnic dinner to follow. Private interment at a later date at Hovey Cemetery, Badger, Iowa; alongside her parents and 3 infant brothers.
