ROY-JOHN LEO JOHNSON Our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather returned to his heavenly home on March 16, 2004. John began his earthly journey on May 8, 1924 in Hatch, Idaho. He was born to Peter Leo Johnson and Nellie Grant Johnson as their only son. His mother passed away when John was six years old. His father later remarried to Elenore Rindlishbacher.

John graduated from North Jim High School in Bancroft, Idaho. He worked on a farm for his uncle in Bancroft, Idaho, until he was drafted into the Army in March of 1944. He was inducted at Fort Douglas, Utah, and then trained at Camp Roberts, California and Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

He was assigned to the 106th Division and sent overseas in October of 1944 to Scotland. He served in the Military Police (MP). He fought in the frontlines in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge, where he was awarded four bronze stars. John later received an honorable discharge on December 26, 1946. John returned to work on a farm in Bancroft, Idaho.

During a basketball game, he met a local school teacher, the love of his life, his soul-mate LaVern Bohi. John and LaVern were married on June 5, 1947 at the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Bancroft, Idaho until the summer of 1950, when the couple moved to Ogden, Utah. In 1953, John started working for the Ogden City Fire Department. He retired after 25 years. He then worked as a custodian at the LDS Church for nine years.
