Jason "Grandpa" Lawson, 84, of Bloomington, died early this morning at Fontanbleu Nursing Center.
Born Nov. 11, 1902, in Brown County, he was the son of James and Catherine (Axsom) Lawson. He was a farmer and blacksmith in Brown County and worked as a carpenter, painter and salesman in Bloomington. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruby Childs of Bloomington; one son, Roy Lawson of Danville; five grandchildren; one step grandchild; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Day Mortuary with the Rev. L.D. Axsom officiating. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
