BUTCHER, RUTH LORENE Ruth Lorene Butcher went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 9, 2006. Ruth would have been 104 years old in December. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Ray L., as well as two grandsons. Ruth was born in Roanoke, Louisiana to Jesse and Clara De Vilbiss. She worked as a bookkeeper in a bank before becoming the mother of three sons. After raising her family she operated a day care out of her home where she was known as Mommy Butcher. She loved each child entrusted to her care and found great joy from teaching them Bible stories. After Ruth retired in 1974 she continued crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren. She then began gathering dolls and sewing doll outfits. She made hundreds and took them to children at a mission church in Mexico. Ruth loved to read and spend time with her family. She was a great cookie maker to which all her grandchildren and great grandchildren can attest. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2006 from 5 to 8:00 pm at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave., Riverside, CA. 92505. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 11:00 am at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her sons, Walter R. and his wife Elinor of Pullman, WA. Jesse and his wife Jean of St. Louis, MO and Edward M. and his wife Glenda of Riverside. Ruth has 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
