"TWO SUDDEN DEATHS.---At Buffalo, on Friday night last, Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Caney died from asphyxiation, in a sleeping apartment in their home, caused by the inhalation of illuminating gas which had been allowed to escape in the room. They were former residents of this village, as young people. Mrs. Caney will be remembered as Miss Elizabeth Antisdell, and her people resided on Chestnut street in this village several years ago. Mr. Caney was a brother of Mrs. D. B. Boden and Mrs. W. D. Boden, who have the sympathy of many friends here in this affliction. The remains of Mr. and Mrs. Caney were brought here on Monday for interment in Lakewood Cemetery." [The Freeman's Journal (Cooperstown, NY), Sept. 21, 1899, Page 3]
