The parents of William Bohannon are not known. There is much speculation but nobody has proven conclusively who his mother and father were. We anxiously await such proof. He married Ruth about 1752 in Virginia and had eight children. He then married Judith Legge? about 1773 in Virginia and had ten children. It is believed that his second wife is buried beside him. It is also believed that the land where his grave lies was his land in life. William Bohannon was my great-great-great-great-grandfather.∼Providing this alternative information because the existing memorial asserts there is no documentation of his birth instead relying upon anecdotal analysis without regard to Christ Church records.

Father of Joseph Bohannon: John Bohannon, b. bef. 30 Jan 1659/1658 St. Michaels Parish, Barbados, d. 1707; bap. 30 Jan 1658 St. Michaels Parish, Barbados; M. Agnes Newberry 10 Apr 1676 Christ Church, Lancaster, VA. This part of Lancaster VA was partially split to Middlesex County, VA north of the Piankatank River. Later, that part of the Christ Church Vestry south of the Piankatank River became Mathews County VA. Agnes Newberry, b. 1657, d. 6 Oct 1728 (date of death info might relate to her mother, Agnes Bent Newberry). ||Father John Bohannon's siblings included Joseph 1660, Dunkin 1661, Elizabeth, and Dunkin Jr of 1675.||

Father of John Bohannon: Dunkin Bohannon, b. abt. 1635 Scotland. Mother was Sisley Collmore, b. abt 1639 and d. aft. 1678. They were married or at least marriage registration on 5 Jul 1658, St. Michaels parish, Barbados. Collmore could have been phonetic, as there is some indication her father was Culmer by virtue of Culmer's mother, Sisley Spackling.
