Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until May 8, 1943, 1 year and 1 day after he went missing as was the custom.

Albert served as a Gunner's Mate Third Class, U.S.S. Neosho (AO-23), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Hartford County, Connecticut prior to the war.

Albert was declared "Missing In Action" when the Neosho received seven direct hits and a suicide dive by one Japanese bomber during the war. The Neosho held on for 4 more days before it eventually sank.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
