LAYTON – Spencer Blaine Williams, 88, passed away on April 21, 2016.

Blaine was born April 22, 1927, the son of Claudius Spencer and Melba Parkinson Williams in Wanship, Utah.

He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class.

Blaine married Shirley Smith on July 29, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He was an active member of the LDS Church serving as a Bishop, Temple Ordinance Worker, High Priest Group Leader, and he also served a mission at the LDS Genealogical Library in Salt Lake.

Blaine managed a J.C. Penney store and was owner of The Squire men’s clothing store. He found great satisfaction in serving the community there for over 30 years.

He loved to play the violin and enjoyed family history.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; daughters: Loretta Joy Newbold and Mary Kathleen Wendell; sons: Raymond Grant, Bruce Dale, Kurtis Gayle and Kenton Glenn; brothers, Glade Junior and Kenneth Dean; and sisters: Arlene Fenton and Lorraine Walton.

He was preceded in death by his two sons: Spencer Vaughn and Keith Allan; and a brother, Jay Lavar.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Wanship Cemetery.
