Donald Alan Ward was born on October 7, 1939 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of George and Jane (Rose) Ward.
He served in the United States Navy.
He married Julie Baker on December 13, 1980.
Donald was employed with Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling from 1961-1975 and with ADM from 1982 until retiring in 2002.
Donald was a member of Lyons United Methodist Church. He enjoyed participating in the Senior Olympics participating in the shot put, disc, javelin, and hammer toss. He loved gambling, especially video poker, fishing, and gardening.
Donald is survived by his wife: Julie of Fulton, three daughters: Donna Wood of Bradgate, Iowa, Mary (James) Warren of Herrington, Kansas, and Sherri (Jeff) Wetherall of Stockport, Iowa; his son, William Ward of Clinton; a step-daughter: Lisa Yeager of Fulton, Illinois 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Jerry (Mary Jane) Ward of Aurora, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, and two son-in-laws.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Mercy Hospice. The family extends their gratitude to the nurses of Mercy Hospice and 2nd Floor nurses in PCU at Mercy North for their wonderful care.
