OTTUMWA – Andrew Jack Goodwin, 91, of Ottumwa died at 1:52 p.m. April 15, 2016 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born October 6, 1924 in Ottumwa to DeWitt and Nora Champ Goodwin. He married Marilyn Moore January 24, 1948.

He served with the Merchant Marines in World War II and had worked for the Ottumwa Community Schools for thirty years, retiring as Superintendent for the Building and Grounds in 1987.

He was a 50 year member of Empire Masonic Lodge #269 A.F. & A.M. and was a m 50 year member of Ottumwa Chapter #112 Order of the Eastern Star and now a member of Rose Chapter #552 Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are his wife Marilyn; two sons, Lyle (Janice) Goodwin and Richard Goodwin both of Ottumwa; a daughter, Carmen Thomas of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Goodwin, Zachary Thomas, Tara Wright and Laura Stern; four great grandchildren, Michael Goodwin Jr., Halle Wright, Phebe Wright and Karlie Wright.

He was preceded in death by a grandson Michael Goodwin Sr.; two brothers, Irvin and Beryl Goodwin; and a sister, Opal Dalbey.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Masonic services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
