HALIFAX K. Dean Shoop, 70, of 500 Market St. died yesterday in Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.

He was retired from the former Pennsylvania Railroad; an Army veteran of World War II; a member and adult Sunday school teacher at Union United Methodist Church, Powells Valley, a treasurer and cemetery sexton for Union Cemetery Association, a member of Ginter B. Koppenheffer VFW Post 5750, Disabled American Veterans Commander's Club, Powells Valley Volunteer Fire Company, Halifax and Community Fire Company, Halifax Area Ambulance and Rescue Association and Grand Lodge International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Surviving are his wife, Mary M.E. Shoop; four sons, Paul D., Clair L., and Jerry W., all of Halifax, and Mark A. of Newport; a daughter, Norma M. Rummel of Halifax; a sister, Lena Stoneroad of Millersburg; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in his church, Powells Valley and Union Church Road. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax RD 3.

Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church 1698 Enders Road, Halifax 17032.
