The Rev. Charles Davis, 44, of Clarksdale died of a heart attack Monday, August 14, 2000, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Services were at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, at Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Liniel Brown officiating. Burial followed at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Century Funeral Home had charge.
Born on January 12, 1956, in Marks, the Rev. Davis was the pastor of New Life Church. Survivors include his wife, Sherri Ann Davis of Clarksdale; two daughters, Mary Davis and Marie Davis, both of Clarksdale; his mother, Ocia Bell Davis of Darling; seven sisters, Mae Onie Shaw of Lee Summitt, MO, Thelma Whitehead of Bellwood, IL, Ruth Ann Jones of Chicago, Alice Biggs of Waukegan, IL, Mattie Jackson and Clara Dawkins, both of Darling, and Rosetta Flucker of Clarksdale; and eight brothers, James Davis, Leroy Davis, Johnny Davis, Samuel Davis and C. W. Davis, all of Darling, Dan Butler of Washington, DC, Edward Butler of Toledo, OH, and Willie Davis of Ellecott City, MD.
