Bessie Cochran Parker, age 97, of Stoner Road, Adairsville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
She was born in Adairsville, Georgia, October 6, 1918, daughter of the late Alfred “Bud” Cochran, Sr. and Roxie Brady Cochran. Mrs. Parker was a lifelong and second eldest member of Stoners Chapel Baptist Church. An amazing mother and grandmother, her family truly meant the world to her. If she wasn’t cooking then you would be sure to find her watching cooking shows. She loved canning any and everything brought to her, and most would agree she made the best biscuits around. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jessie J. Parker; sons, Harry Parker, Lloyd Parker, and Bradley Parker; brothers, Howard Cochran, Sr., Jake Cochran, Alfred Cochran, Jr. and Tab Cochran; sisters, Ruby Reece, Rosie Hite, Lucille Robinson, Dixie Coker, Helen Lanham, Vera Reid and Lois Gossett.
Survivors include her daughters, Myrtle Abernathy of Cassville, Joanne (Wendell) Harrell of Adairsville, Annette (Carl) Gay of Adairsville, Linda (Joel) Hyde of Cartersville, Estelle (Jimmy) Watkins of Calhoun, Debbie Bearden of Cartersville and, Wynelle (Tim) Roach of Holly Springs; son, Darrell (Pam) Parker of Adairsville; daughter-in-law, Hilda Parker of Adairsville; sister, Beulah Brown of Cartersville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-granddaughter, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Stoners Chapel Baptist Church with Reverends Dewey Atchley, David Baker and Stephen Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include her grandsons, Eric Abernathy, Keith Watkins, Steven Watkins, Tyler Roach, Rodney Parker, Ethan Abernathy, and Bo Edwards. Honorary pallbearers include C.B. Dean, Bradley Lanham, Earon Parker, and Logan Bearden
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM Until 9:00PM at Stoners Chapel Baptist Church, Adairsville.
