Alice J. Barclay 97, passed away Wednesday, April 20th, in Abilene. She was born July 3, 1918 in Tonganoxie, the daughter of Roy O. and Phoebe H. (Baker) Brawner. Growing up in Tonganoxie and Enterprise, Alice attended local schools and graduated from Enterprise High School with the class of 1937. On August 6, 1947, she was married to Floyd Barclay. The early years of their marriage was spent farming in the Willowdale community before moving to Abilene in 1961. Alice had been employed as a bookkeeper at Fort Riley and as a teller at the Commercial State Bank in Abilene. Floyd preceded her in death March 11, 1985. She enjoyed square dancing and sewing. Alice was also preceded in death by four brothers. She was a member of the Abilene First United Methodist Church and the U.M.W.Survived by nieces and nephews.Alice had chosen cremation. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 25th, at the Abilene First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Collins officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
